Teaching at 10,200 ft

In May 2016, I decided to quit my job as a video editor at the National Geographic Society to become a high school English teacher. Always interested in both traditional and non-traditional education, I applied for an apprenticeship at the High Mountain Institute (HMI) in Leadville, Colorado—a semester school for high school juniors that unites rigorous academics, outdoor education, and a residential community. This website, and particularly this portfolio, are my capstone projects for the program.
